Hi There

Gwenda, Nice to hear from you again, and glad you had a good trip.Must have made your dad feel very special to have a celebration in his honor.Things were a little quarrelsome while you were gone, but think everyone has sorta kissed and made up :-) ).ANYWAY—–nice to have you back with us!!

Pharmaceutical Companies …..hormones

I looked up some info on compounding pharmacies and I understand that they are pharmacies or factories that make up a prescriptions for you tailored to your individual needs based on the results of your personal testing. This is the way many pharmacies used to be years ago. Now they are much less involved with making up prescriptions for the individual’s special needs. They pretty much put “one size fits all” pills from the Pharmaceutical Companies from big bottles into little bottles for people needing prescriptions filled. I am interested in getting a prescription made up for me by a compounding pharmacy for Natural hormones as my Dr took me off my synthetic hormones saying they thicken the blood and tend to form clots. Also, I was
frightened by the latest clinical studies regarding synthetic hormones and their connection to breast cancer, stroke, heart disease and many other dangerous health risks. I didn’t want to live without hormones if a natural safe alternative was available with no side effects as are Natural Hormones. A natural hormone is defined a hormone that is identical in chemical
structure to the hormone produced by the human body. Granted horse urine comes from a natural organism but the pharmaceutical companies can’t make money on something that is natural so they had to change it at the molecular level so it could be standardized and patented in order for them to manufacture it and sell it for huge profits. To think that the pharmaceutical companies are only thinking of women’s health is naive. At this time the hormones being compounded are……. Estriol, Estradiol, Estrone, Progesterone and Testosterone. Individually these hormones are produced and approved by the FDA. The compounding pharmacy then takes these FDA approved hormones and makes up formulations that are tailored to our individual need for these various hormones. Makes much more sense and its no wonder that there has been so many problems with the one
size fits all hormones usually prescribed by doctors. Many doctors are still unaware of this option and so don’t tell their female patients about it. But more and more doctors are becoming aware, especially since the clinical studies in the last few years have come out with conclusive evidence that synthetic hormones are linked to breast cancer, stroke, heart disease, etc
On the Dr Phil show I saw a woman by the name of Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman who is the author of several books including “Before the Change” which explains in detail about all this and also how to treat the typical post menopausal symptoms and also where natural hormones can be obtained. I can’t tell you how glad I am that I found Natural hormones!! I thought I had to endure hot flashes and night sweats, lack of sex drive, etc. etc. forever. I urge you to get this book or go to her website for more
information…….

Re: Re: Another stroke or TIA?

Dave, Congratulations for your 2nd post-stroke anniversary. One of my four TIAs prior to the big one included a weird feeling that my right hand was blocking my right eye. The fingers on my right hand were moving involuntarily and were over a foot away from my eye. I grabbed my right hand with my left hand to make sure it was not touching my eye. It lasted only a few minutes and was my last TIA, two days before the major stroke. You should get it checked now, even though they will probably find nothing. However, it is something that needs to explored.

RE: Another stroke or TIA?

I have the same problem. Constant pain on the right side but instead of right side of face its my left. Always feels cold and is in pain. Many a day it takes two to five hours to get my eye in focus. I don’t think you are having another stroke but surly your doc can tell

Another stroke or TIA?

Hi all, I’m now 2 years post stroke. I’ve been numb on the right side on my face since. This past weekend I was working some long stressful hours. At one point I started to feel more numbness on the right side of my face, and my right eye completely lost focus. I could not see clearly up close, far away or anywhere in between. I had to cover my right eye for a while so I could continue my work. I also started to feel very nauseous during this episode. It last for most of the day on Friday a little bit of Saturday. It’s all cleared up now. Probably a lame question, but does this sound like more stroke related issues to you, or could it be something else? The inability to focus my right eye was weird. I have to go see my Doc tonightabout it.

Thanks.

No AIDS

Under 150, the variant version. At least what the reports say. Considering how many people die from even relatively uncommon illnesses like AIDS, it’s a blip on the radar. There’s some scientific discussion going on about whether it’s actually caused by a prion–which can’t mutate, as it contains no genetic material–or some unknown process.
